   Since 2000, Bryan Oknyansky has engaged a profession preoccupied with the environment we live in as an award-winning designer on projects ranging from exhibition design to airports to cities. On the topic of how footwear and architecture relate, Bryan Oknyansky says:

"Architecture and footwear share the same brief: It must be beautiful, and it can't kill you. Besides, if you can't stand up straight in my space, what's it all for?"

His outside of the box visionary approach has earned him international success as a designer, researcher, and Guest Architecture Design Lecturer in Los Angeles, Beijing, Moscow, and London, where his design studio is currently based. Over the last three years, Bryan Oknyansky has experimented with manufacturing technologies applied in the automotive and aerospace industries and has bridged the gap between fashion and architecture with his debut luxury high-heels collection Heavy Metal Series.

   Bryan began officially designing high-heels in May 2011 in a collaboration with Berlin-based Haute Couture label Kimberit. In the span of his first six months as an official luxury footwear designer, he's presented a ground-breaking debut collection as a last-minute invitee of Berlin Fashion Week SS12, Paris Fashion Week SS12, and Manchester Loves Fashion SS12, and has held private viewings in exclusive West London venues.    Footwear has a responsibility beyond its appearance to endure the forces imposed on them by people. Any slight miscalculation can result in pain from bruises to fractures. In the 21st century, it is not acceptable to design something that doesn't work. It's simply unfashionable.

   Bryan Oknyansky defines luxury footwear as the combination of bespoke and unique artistry with the application of the latest in digital design and manufacturing technologies. The Shoes by Bryan model is different. There is no dependency on manufacturing partners and thusly no limitations on the level of manufacturing complexity with which the shoes are designed. This is all made possible by the Re-Industrial Revolution currently taking place making cutting edge technology accessible to designers, which is the phenomena responsible for how quickly Bryan Oknyansky ascended to prominence in the bespoke footwear arena. This is not to say that anyone with access to the same design and manufacturing technologies can design Shoes by Bryan. Rather, it's Bryan Oknyansky's creative vision and years of industrial experimentation with the technology he uses that leads all his designs to be patently unique.

   Most footwear designers do not mention the inherent physics involved in the design and creation of footwear. Bryan Oknyansky begins with physics as the main design problem and, as his recent title of Red Dot: Product Design 2012 Honourable Mention testifies, he never presents a final product to a client that cannot stand the test of human wear.

   All Shoes by Bryan are designed using advanced CAD software which means real life data such as foot measurements, orthopedic and ergonomic specifications, and material performance characteristics can be plugged in to the design. The actual shoes are then fabricated using Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) and computer numeric controlled machinery (CNC machines), both of which significantly reduce the probability of human errors and manufacturing defects. The end results are "fingerprint" shoes that are maximally comfortable specifically for the person they were designed for.

   The result of Bryan Oknyansky's cutting edge design and manufacturing workflow is an endless possibility of design innovation that can ensure each and every design is both one-of-a-kind and built to the quality of an heirloom that can be passed on from generation to generation.
